Claire Jennings

Professional Qualifications

I am Claire Jennings and I am a professionally qualified and experienced counsellor and hypnotherapist working face-to-face in Little Clacton, Essex and across the UK via my telephone service. I’m a disabled counselling specialist working using Social Justice Therapy to help you to build resistance when facing ablest based stress.

I provide counselling for a national disability charity and can support you with all aspects of living with a disability, injury or medical condition, including long Covid. Do you feel let down by the medical, educational, social or mental health services? Are you talked down to, ignored and feel exhausted and frustrated, trying to fit in when everything just feels so difficult? Counselling can help.

I also have vast experience in supporting families and carers, for example, parents of children with ADHD, Autism, dyslexia, physical, sensory or intellectual disabilities or people whose partner has acquired a medical condition such as dementia later in life. Counselling with me allows you to grieve for what you’ve lost, and deal with the frustration of the additional hoops and barriers disabled people and their carers have to overcome and I’ll offer you practical solutions to everyday problems to help free up space for your mental health.

If you’d like to talk to someone with both lived and professional experience, please contact me for a free initial consultation.

About Claire Jennings

Why Counselling and Hypnotherapy?

As to why? I have experienced poor mental health myself so I wanted to ensure that no one else ever felt that they had to struggle alone. I have lived with anxiety and depression and I know how much it means to have someone alongside you in the darkest times.

As a disabled person, I have specific lived experience of the additional attitudinal, physical and sociological barriers that disabled people, their carers, friends and family face daily, so I find it particularly rewarding working with this group of people.

However, I have been privileged to help people from a broad range of backgrounds with varying mental health issues and personal challenges.

My aim is to ensure that my clients never feel alone with negative thoughts and that there will always be someone there who genuinely cares.

I offer hypnotherapy because it can help people to become the person they want to become, free from self-defeating habits, fears, and limiting behaviours.

May I take this opportunity to thank you from the bottom of my heart for the therapy I have received from you during the last six weeks. Right from the very beginning you made me feel relaxed and comfortable and your personal caring approach clearly connected where others have failed . I will certainly return and would have no hesitation in recommending you to anyone requiring help which as I was aware is a difficult step to take!
